Common questions

Why don’t I see any events?

Events come from the library, town and class calendars near your location, and some areas have more of them than others. If none are near you yet, the Events, Weekly and Classes tabs will say so, and Places and the Map will still show playgrounds, parks and places around you. Try a wider distance, or email us a link to your library’s or town’s calendar and we’ll work on adding it.

How do I change my location?

Tap ZIP under any page title and enter a ZIP code. To go back to your current location, allow location access when the app asks, or turn it on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Somewhere.

How do the age groups work?

Tap one or more age groups: Little Kids (0–4), Kids (5–11), Teens (12–17), Adults (18+) or Seniors. The app shows events the organizer listed for those ages. Events for all ages are included unless you turn off All-ages.

An event was cancelled or the details are wrong.

Listings come straight from each library’s, town’s or organizer’s own calendar, and the app picks up changes within a few hours. Tap Website on the listing to check the organizer’s page. If something still looks wrong, email us.

What do Free and Paid mean?

They describe the event or place, not the app. Free means the organizer lists it as free. Paid means there’s a cost to attend or a fee to register. Some places don’t say, so they show under All.

Can you add my library, town, business or class?

Yes. Email us a link to the public calendar or schedule. We can usually add calendars from LibraryCalendar, LibCal, Communico, Localist and most parks and recreation sign-up sites.

How much does the app cost?

Somewhere To Be is a one-time $2 purchase from the App Store. There are no subscriptions, ads or in-app purchases, and you don’t need to sign up. If you have a problem with a purchase, you can request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What does the app do with my location?

It uses it while you’re using the app, to find what’s nearby. It isn’t stored on a server, shared with advertisers or sold. The Privacy Policy has the details.

How do I delete my data?

Everything the app saves is stored on your device. Deleting the app removes it. There’s no account, so there’s nothing else to delete.
